Pets Bring Joy: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
We are grateful to have received a 2025 Petfinder Foundation Kia Pet Adoption Grant in the amount of $1,000, which has supported fee-reduced and fee-waived adoptions for some of our animals this year. As explained in our original application, our regular adoption fee for individual cats is set at $200, which is already far below the amount we spend on an average cat to prepare them for adoption. With the Petfinder Foundation and Kia's generous grant, we were able to reduce our adoption fee to $100 for many of our senior and/or special needs animals – and in some especially needy cases, offer waived fees – encouraging their adoption into loving, permanent homes.
Thanks to this grant, we have already enabled six fee-reduced or fee-waived adoptions this year. We will be able to fund two more before the end of the calendar year with the remaining funds from the Petfinder Foundation-Kia grant. Thanks to this, we are able to free up valuable space in our foster homes in order to bring in new cats in this unprecedented time of need.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Rescued around Valentine’s Day from our partner shelter BCAS, Heart instantly won our hearts over! This 9-year-old declaw presented with a host of medical challenges including hyperthyroid, reduced appetite requiring syringe-feeding, and multiple visits to the veterinarian.
Senior cats can be more difficult to place, and cats with known medical challenges can often sit in our foster network for extended periods of time. Thanks to the generous Kia Pet Adoption Grant from the Petfinder Foundation, we are delighted to share that PBJ was able to waive Heart’s adoption fee and found her a loving forever home just one month after her arrival! Congratulations to Heart and thank you, Petfinder Foundation!
