This emergency grant was used to cover one day of care -- containment, enrichment, food, and medical -- for 30 animals in our shelter.

Our daily cost of care for one animal is $25. This emergency grant helped fill the gap HSPPR has experienced during the COVID-19 crisis due to a significant loss of revenue from adoptions, licensing, and public veterinary services.

Bucky stayed with us for two months during the COVID-19 crisis. Here is Bucky’s Happy Tail. May 22, 2020: Lucky Bucky went home with this amazing family this week. Bucky, known as Duke at HSPPR, came to us in late March after being run over by a car. He had a left hind femur fracture as well as a pelvic fracture, so after we treated his immediate wounds, we sent him to our friends at Colorado Canine Orthopedics to see if they could repair his fractures. Everything went according to plan, so Bucky then went into one of our loving foster homes to recover. After six weeks of recovery in his foster home and many check-ups with our amazing veterinary team, Bucky was medically approved for adoption. Looks like he is already happy to be with the family of his dreams (first photo)! Bucky’s adopter reports, “Super excited to have Bucky as part of my family! So far, he seems to be enjoying spending time with his older brother (second photo).” Way to go, Bucky and family!
