La Plata County Humane Society: Dog Field Trip/Short-Term Fostering Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

LPCHS already has an established foster and volunteer program. This grant allowed us to purchase supplies to help make field trips safer and more comfortable and to market adoptable dogs when they are out on field trips with volunteers. We purchased 8' leads, gentle leaders, and "Adopt Me" vests in a variety of sizes.

Taco was brought to La Plata County Humane Society on May 1 by Durango Police. She spent 36 days at La Plata County Humane Society, waiting to meet her new person.

In that time, Taco was able to go on several foster field trips and meet many potential adopters! Taco met the kindest retired gentleman who was looking for a new best friend, and Taco was ready to fill that role! On June 6, Taco was officially adopted and is now living her best life!
