Cats Exclusive, Inc.: Emergency Medical Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
At the beginning of April, local police were called to pick up a cat who had been pulled from the street by a resident. Robbie was very obviously a victim of extreme abuse, either maliciously or by accident. He did not have a tag or microchip, so the police had no way to investigate.
When he was dropped off at Cats Exclusive, he was in very bad shape. Immediately, our doctor saw he had acid and chemical burns all over his body. Through his surgeries and multiple skin treatments, Robbie has continued to exhibit only love towards his handlers. He also had to be neutered.
Robbie is still undergoing a continuing series of skin remediation but, as we know, time and love is the best healing therapy.
We try to fundraise for individual cases and succeed to some degree. In the case here for Robbie, we issued an appeal in April when he came to us and it raised $134 in total. The costs for his care to date now exceed $3,000. The grant from the Petfinder Foundation helped alleviate some of those costs.

This beautiful soul has gone through three skin surgeries with several bouts of infection. On June 24, all of Robbie’s staples were removed. We aren’t sure if his back hair will ever grow again, so he may resemble a skunk or he may have a beautiful coat. Either way, he will wear a body suit until he is 100% healed.
You could not ask for a more precious, kind, forgiving, loving creature than Robbie! We’re not finished yet, but close enough to share. We are not taking any adoption calls or visits on this boy at this time since he’s still in burn recovery.
