Saving Livy Cat Rescue: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant allowed us to find homes for a dozen adult cats by having the fees sponsored through the Petfinder Foundation and Kia. We got a lot of traction online by posting about receiving this grant and how it would help the lives of the adult cats who are sitting around in the rescue for a very long time with no adoption interest. Over the course of three months, we hosted virtual adoption events with our cats who had been on the market for adoption for a while and they all found homes.

Our longest resident, Gwen (first photo), had been in foster care for 861 days with no applications! Due to the incredible response on social media as a result of being selected for the grant, we were able to find her a home.

Gwen had alopecia, a special skin condition, and we’d had her in the rescue since she was a kitten, but nobody was interested in her. She is now living her absolute best life.

We’d had most of the adults listed as adoptables for a *minimum* of 200 days. Cats who got adopted through this grant are Buddy, Custard, Luca, Guinevere, Citrus, Cloud, Philippe/George, Mother Gothel, Ghirardelli, and more.
