Pawtitas Rescue, Inc.: Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant made a meaningful impact on both our organization and the animals currently under our care. As a small rescue, every dollar matters, and the support from the Petfinder Foundation helped us continue providing safe, responsible, and compassionate care to vulnerable animals in our community.

With the help of the 2026 Operation Grant, we were able to restock essential pantry items, purchase much-needed cleaning supplies and medications, and improve the daily care environment for our rescue pets. These resources are critical in helping us maintain healthy and sanitary conditions for the dogs and cats we rescue, many of whom come from neglectful or difficult situations.

The grant also directly supported medical care for animals in need. It helped us cover a veterinary check-up and treatment support for Poppy, one of our rescue dogs currently experiencing a severe allergy crisis. In addition, the funding contributed toward the spay/neuter surgeries for Silo, Asta, and Echo, three rescued kittens who will soon be ready to begin their journey toward adoption and forever homes.

Beyond the supplies and medical assistance, this grant gave our organization reassurance and stability during a time when rescue work can feel emotionally and financially overwhelming. Knowing that organizations like the Petfinder Foundation believe in our mission motivates us to keep fighting for animals that are often overlooked.

We are deeply grateful for this support and for the opportunity to continue making a difference in the lives of the pets who depend on us every day.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Poppy’s story is one that truly represents resilience and second chances.

When Poppy came into our care, she was in heartbreaking condition. She was severely underweight, almost completely hairless due to untreated skin infections and allergies, and clearly showed signs of long-term neglect and abuse. She had also lost one of her eyes and was struggling medically when we rescued her. At one point during her recovery journey, she even developed liver complications, making her case especially critical.

Despite everything she had endured, Poppy remained incredibly gentle, loving, and trusting toward people.

With proper veterinary care, medication, nutrition, and ongoing treatment, Poppy has made an amazing transformation. Her skin and coat improved tremendously, she gained healthy weight, and her joyful personality began to shine through. She is now a playful, affectionate, obedient dog who does wonderfully with people and other animals.

However, Poppy still requires continued care for chronic allergy-related skin issues, which is why support like the Petfinder Foundation Operation Grant has been so meaningful for us. The grant helped us provide veterinary care and medical support during one of her recent allergy flare-ups, ensuring she could continue healing comfortably and safely.

Today, Poppy is vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, and still searching for the loving forever home she deserves. Her journey reminds us why rescue work matters so deeply — because animals like Poppy deserve the opportunity to heal, to be loved, and to finally know what safety feels like.

Meet Poppy here.
