Zeus came to WAG after being chained to a tree for the first five years of his life. The chain was big and heavy and weighed him down. He had terrible cherry eye in both eyes that required surgery.
Some believed that Zeus would be difficult to adopt out. Maybe he would have aggression issues or trouble bonding with people. Could he be with other dogs or cats? These were all questions that we had when we took him in.
It turns out that our boy Zeus was the BESTEST boy there was. Despite his life up to that point, he was sweet, lovable, and enjoyed the attention of our volunteers. He had no aggression toward humans, dogs, or cats. In fact, he was an absolute lovebug. Despite the need for four surgeries to get him feeling good, he was always sweet no matter what pain he was enduring.
The Petfinder Foundation grant helped to defray costs of Zeus’s medical expenses, which totaled over $4,000 after four surgeries, heartworm treatment, treatment for cherry eyes, neutering, vaccinations, micro-chipping, and other related medical expenses.
Now, Zeus has been adopted by an amazing couple that volunteers with WAG. He is now a happy dog living with other dogs and a cat. He is not aggressive and gets along very well with other dogs and people. He is the luckiest boy and they are so delighted to have him. He now gets to hang out with his friends on the couch rather than chained to that tree.
We are so happy for an excellent end to Zeus’s story and so thankful that we were able to help this wonderful dog.
Thank you, Petfinder Foundation! WAG is thankful and most appreciative of the Petfinder Foundation for its generosity and continuous support of sheltered dogs.
