All About Cats: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The Kia Pet Adoption Grant allowed us to help adopters take home pairs of cats instead of adopting just one. We find that kittens adopted in pairs do better and their adopters are less likely to return their pet due to behavior issues. By reducing the adoption fee, we made it easy to say yes to two!
Our adopters ranged from a multi-generational family to a disabled vet who is a single mom. One adopter, a young single man, brought his cat-loving family to help him select the perfect pet. He was originally considering a single adult but decided that, since he is away for much of the day, a pair would be better for the cats.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Florence and Susanna (first photo) were adopted by a young single mom who also happens to be a disabled veteran who is attending school. Her young daughter had been begging for a kitten and she decided the timing was right for her family.
She was new to being a cat owner and, after we talked to her about the benefits of having a pair of kittens, she agreed that it was a good idea; when we told her about the Kia Pet Adoption Grant and offered to apply it to her adoption fee, she was so appreciative of the help. Just like the sign in the background of her adoption photo, we know that Florence and Susanna will be their new BFFs (Best Feline Friends).
