How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The P.L.A.Y. Pet Beds Grant provided us with cooling kennel beds for dogs in our care. As the summers in Utah get very hot, having cooling beds was essential for us to keep dogs and puppies in our care comfortable and happy as they recovered from surgery, adjusted to their new surroundings, and prepared for adoption and meeting their forever families. We are so grateful for this generous grant, and our Nuzzles dogs definitely appreciated it as well!

One of our very special dogs, Hippo, was with us at Nuzzles for a very long time. She came from the Navajo Nation and was very scared initially, but blossomed into a sweet and happy girl. However, she had to wait a long time for her forever home.

Hippo decided she needed to be an only pet, not really connecting with other dogs and not great with cats. She loved long hikes on the trails around our Rescue Ranch, and the P.L.A.Y. cooling beds helped her relax after her excursions.

Then one day, a lovely person came to visit Hippo and take her on a hike. It was love at first sight, and after over a year in our care, at the shelter and in foster homes, Hippo found her perfect match.

Hippo is now living her very best life, full of love and hikes, with her person who has their very own house hippo. We are so happy to have been Hippo’s intermediate step between her previous life and her forever home.
