Animal Rescue League of Iowa: Bar Dog Operation Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The Animal Rescue League of Iowa, Inc., is like so many other shelters across the country: We are experiencing an elevated dog population. As a result, sadly, the dogs in our care are waiting longer to be adopted then in previous years, so providing enrichment for them in a variety of ways is critical to keeping them mentally and physically healthy.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Max came to into our care as a stray; someone abandoned him outside our shelter. Sadly, they did not leave any details or information with him. We posted him as a lost pet and, sadly, no one came to claim him.
We checked him over medically, vaccinated him, neutered him, named him Max, and he was ready for adoption! One of our wonderful volunteers took him to our dog park for some outside time and photographed him enjoying the enrichment items that we were able to purchase thanks to the Petfinder Foundation grant.
Max was quite photogenic and clearly had a great time outside and with the enrichment items. I am happy to share that he has since been adopted!
