Animal Rescue of Carroll: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Having the free adoption event for National Pet Week (May 4-10), we were able to adopt out five cats within a week, which is high for us. Having the half-price event for National Pet Month (May 11-31), we were able to adopt two, which is not our normal amount, but adoptions have been down since May. We plan to have another event soon and will use the rest of the money for that event.

How many pets did this grant help?

So far, seven. Our goal is to be able to help another 20 animals.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Kade (photos 1-4) is a black and white border collie who was adopted during the half-price event. He was rescued from being an outside dog who was only fed “people food.”

It took trying many different types of additives, brands, and flavors to get him to eat the expected amount of dog food needed for his age and size. Took about four weeks to get him on a normal diet and a normal intake of food.

He has now been adopted and is living his best life with his forever family with two parents, four kid siblings, and another dog.
