This grant took a little of the financial burden off our very small shelter/rescue after Poppy the puppy was pushed by her brother and broke both bones in her right front leg clean through. The only way to save this 6-month-old pup’s leg was by doing a $5,000 plate surgery.
We posted out for support and did fundraise $2,000 of the cost, but after follow-up visits, her total came to over $7,000 in vetting fees, due immediately. This grant helped us save Poppy’s leg while still being able to care for the dogs in our care. We could have removed her leg for less cost, but even our vets did not want to have to do that to a puppy, and we are so appreciative of the support of the Petfinder Foundation and this grant!
