How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We are so appreciative of senior-dog adopters who look past the maintenance care the dogs will need for the rest of their lifetimes and love the dogs equally. Being able to say to a potential adopter, "We are going to provide for the dog, through his Petfinder Foundation grant, this and this and this, not just for a week, but for the year to give you time to budget for his needs" is a game-changer.

We know they will provide medical care for the dog without hesitation, but adding this "starter kit" of the dogs' medications, supplements, and supplies is greatly appreciated.

This year’s recipient of the Petfinder Foundation grant, Bruno, beat being euthanized as the shelter ran out of the drug needed right when it was his turn. We swooped in and claimed him despite his known heartworm-positive status. Through it all, Bruno kept showing he deserved to live out his life to a ripe old age.

This grant gave us the opportunity to purchase medications, supplements, and supplies to start Bruno’s new life with his family without the concern that they would be hit with a large cost right at once.

Bruno became part of our rescue tribe in July of 2023, and his adoption was finalized on April 24, 2024. He is now living his best life surrounded by love, patience, and compassion.
