Angel Ridge Animal Rescue: Play Yard Renovation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The Play Yard Renovation Grant helped enable Angel Ridge Animal Rescue to have a clean and safe environment for the dogs in our care to play, have some open space to run, meet adopters, and have playgroups with other dogs in the kennel. Instead of a muddy mess, we now have a comfortable yard, and we thank the Petfinder Foundation for helping us with the grant of $2,000 to achieve our goal.

We use the play yard for our dogs to wind down and relax before going on walks after they've been cooped up in kennels, and for our volunteers to be able to work on enrichment so that the dogs are ready to be adopted into forever homes.

It is so nice for the dogs to have a space of their own in which they can be dogs. The grant was used to put down mulch and to repair the fencing, which made it a very safe environment. We will eventually add pools and enrichment toys to the play yard that will further benefit the dogs in our care.

How many pets did this grant help?

We average around 100+ dogs per year.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

We have a dog named Mocha (first and second photos). She has thunderstorm anxiety and the play yard helps her burn off some energy.

She has been kenneled for almost six months and the play yard is a calm, fun environment that helps keep her mental state positive and healthy with all the hours that she is kenneled.

Sometimes she doesn’t want to walk and just wants to play with toys, and the play yard gives her the opportunity for some off-leash exercise. She even gets the zoomies when she plays with her toys.

We recently discovered that she has gained 12 lbs. since arriving at the shelter, so using the play yard is a great way for her to get back her girlish figure.

She is still waiting for adoption to the right family. You can meet Mocha here.
