How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We typically rescue dogs with special needs, and many of them have extreme medical issues. Healthy, nutritious canned food is critical when dogs are sick, injured, or not thriving.

With this grant we were able to purchase nutritious Royal Canin Recovery food for several of our most serious pups who feel so poorly that they don't want to eat. These dogs were also malnourished, so having this tasty and healthy food really makes a big impact.

Hayden came to us after he was hit by a car.

This Australian shepherd puppy was in very bad shape. He had one leg so mangled that it has to be amputated, a paw so deeply infected that it was nearly amputated, and serious injuries all over his body.

As you can imagine, he was not very inspired to eat. We coaxed him with the appealing canned food, and even after every-other-day wound debridement and bandaging, he has perked up, started to recover, and is healing.

Hayden will still need some follow-up care and time in a foster home, but he will be ready for adoption soon so he can find his happily ever after!
