Team Kitten: Cat Enrichment Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant allowed us to distribute numerous toys and small structures such as scratching posts to our fosters. We managed to find toys in bulk on Amazon to maximize the funds we were given. Over 20 fosters were given a small variety bag of various toys and chasers. Fifteen fosters chose to receive three scratching pads each. Each foster home is now able to provide basic enrichment to the kittens in their care. Old toys were able to be thrown away and more variety and stimulation was able to be, and will continue to be, available to our foster kittens.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Franklin was a kitten who came into our care severely underweight and skittish. We believe that he most likely suffered abuse or mistreatment before coming to us.

It took a lot of coaxing for his foster to get him to warm up to the idea of people and come out of hiding. The small cat tree we were able to provide gave him a safe space to hide that was still visible for his foster. The wand toys and kicker toys were crucial to the interactive play that allow his foster to help him open up.

He ended up being a sweetheart of a kitten who was quickly adopted into a calm home.
