Somerset Humane Society: Play Pet Beds Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The beds came at time when all our cats and dog needed them. We had depleted our supply quickly due to the fact that we are very full of both cats and dogs. The fact that the beds are washable made them last a lot longer than regular donated beds. They provided extra warmth during the winter months when the dogs spend more time in their kennels that have cement floors.

We currently have several beds left, even after several months.

It is hard to say; we have used them with probably 40 animals already.

We have an older girl (first photo) who was picked up in the South. She is heartworm-positive and needs to spend a lot of time inside. She has to be kept calm during treatment, so having a nice indoor living space, with a comfortable bed, is important. Being able to offer her a soft bed to lie on, especially at a time when we are low on them, is good for her and us. We try to give our animals the best living environment we can.
