Enchanted Tails Animal Rescue: KONG Toys Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We take in many large, young dogs from Detroit who need lots of enrichment. Our fosters and volunteers work during the day, and putting a tasty treat into a Kong and freezing it is the best way to keep these pups busy! We only had three old Kongs to share between 13 dogs. Now we have plenty of Kongs for each and every one of our dogs.

The Kong grant has made the biggest impact on our dog Sally. She came to us as a very pregnant stray from Detroit (first photo). She had 11 puppies shortly after being taken into our care (second photo).

She was absolutely the best mom. All of her puppies have since been adopted and Sally is learning how to be a family dog. Crate-training is hard for any young dog, and a frozen Kong helps keep her mind and body busy for hours while her foster family is at work.

Sally is currently up for adoption and is waiting for the perfect family.
