Ark of Redemption: Emergency Medical Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The Emergency Medical Grant was helpful in contributing towards the funds for treating Navi's ailments.
We had to do an ultrasound of his abdomen to understand why he had persistent diarrhea despite getting meds and dewormed. We had already done a gram stain test, stool analysis, and blood work to get a diagnosis so that a treatment plan could be determined. Unfortunately, the results of these tests did not help to address Navi's diarrhea.
We decided to perform an ultrasound to check for tumors and this came back negative. With the information available to us, we concluded that Navi can live a regular life although he has to be placed on a special diet to minimize his diarrhea problem. It will not be completely gone, but at least it will be managed, unlike before, when it was uncontrollable and Navi also had a skin rash from the constant diarrhea.
How many pets did this grant help?
We were awarded $500, which helped to pay off Navi's extensive vet bill that was approximately $2500.

Navi is a senior cat. When he was surrendered to us, he was covered in his poop. His owner claimed she did not give him a bath because he was sick and she was afraid that he could die if she tried to give him a bath.
The owner claimed he had been doing well until two months ago, when she noted that he stopped eating and seemed to have no desire to live. The owner was currently getting evicted and her mom had approached us to help with eight of her cats. We agreed to help but could only take one at a time, so we asked the owner to decide which cat she wanted to surrender first and she gave Navi to us.
Navi was in bad shape and we were happy he was surrendered to us so that he could get a better life. Navi is a sweet cat and definitely deserves to be in a good furever home. He is currently still in our shelter and is listed as a special-needs cat on Petfinder.
Over the past months, Navi has gained 2 lbs. and his stools are firmer compared to the liquid diarrhea. He is more active and very affectionate. His transformation has been amazing.
