For the Love of Cats Rescue and Adoption: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The Kia Pet Adoption Grant provided money to offset adoption fees for a number of cats who had been with LOCRA the longest. The reduced adoption fees helped draw adopter attention to these deserving cats who just needed a chance to make an impression so they could find their forever homes.

Brother-and-sister bonded pair Marcy and Wolfie arrived on the property of a cat rescuer in the Downriver area of metro Detroit in the winter of 2022. Perhaps they’d been abandoned?
In their foster home, Marcy and Wolfie were constantly playing, cuddling, and grooming each other, but we felt that they would probably do best in a quieter forever home. This special need made it challenging to find an adopter who was just the right fit. However, with the help of the Kia Pet Adoption Grant, Marcy and Wolfie were finally adopted into a loving home in early August 2024, after over a year and a half with LOCRA.
While Marcy and Wolfie’s new owner has only had them for a couple of weeks, she reports that she loves them and that they are doing well in their forever home. We’re so glad that she, Marcy, and Wolfie found each other, and we’re grateful to the Petfinder Foundation and the Kia Pet Adoption Grant for the role they played in this success story.
