How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Enrichment toys are crucial to providing our fosters with ways to keep their high-energy dogs busy. These toys will rotate through foster homes, after thorough cleaning of course, to provide an unlimited number of dogs a chance to play with them. We are also able to provide the information on these toys to our adopters so that they can continue to offer enrichment in their homes. Fifteen minutes of enrichment play can be as much as a two-mile walk for some dogs, and this can mean the difference between an animal staying in its home or being returned to us.

Winter (first and second photos) recently came to us from an overcrowded shelter partner. As a high-energy puppy, she needed an outlet for her energy, and these toys really helped.

We were able to provide Winter’s foster with enrichment toys to keep her busy and provide extra mental stimulation so that she was not destructive in the home. Currently, she has a forever home waiting for her in the coming weeks.
