Rescue Network: KONG Toys Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Our main focus is animals on Native American reservations, but we also work with local shelters/animal controls. It's not uncommon to have many animals that require extensive dentals due to worn-down or broken teeth, oftentimes likely from chewing on things while they were a stray and/or living outside, resulting in broken teeth.

Having SAFE and durable toys is very important to us. We want to provide items that help with stimulation but which will not cause further damage to their teeth. Kong products are a great option and are not only dog-approved, but also vet-approved!

What was expected to be a general dental cleaning turned into so much worse. Tater was rescued from the reservation back in October. While Tater was under anesthesia for her dental, the vet did X-rays and determined Tater had been shot in the face, requiring that six molars be removed. She’ll be able to recover, but she had been in pain, always pawing at her face. This poor girl was shot at for who knows what reason. She is the happiest dog around. Her tail doesn’t stop wagging.

She has since been adopted!
