How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The Kongs we received have been incredibly helpful as enrichment tools for many of our dogs, especially our long-term residents. We have a handful of dogs who have been at the shelter for over a year, and while they enjoy outdoor time and other forms of enrichment, nothing excites them more in their kennels than a frozen Kong filled with chicken broth or peanut butter and treats.

Kongs are especially helpful for long-stay dogs like Kacy, who came to us from a euthanasia list down south at one of our shelter partners. She spent several months in our shelter, and due to her longer length of stay, she required extra enrichment to ensure that her physical and mental needs were always met. The Kong provided daily enrichment and helped make her time in the kennel more comfortable while she was awaiting her forever home. Kacy was recently adopted and is now settling into her forever home thanks to the help of Kong.
