How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The KONG toy grant has been an incredibly valuable resource for our shelter. These enrichment tools have played a key role in keeping our dogs mentally stimulated, engaged, and calm, especially during high-stress situations such as intake, medical recovery, and stormy weather. By stuffing and freezing the KONGs with peanut butter or other treats, we’ve been able to create a soothing, long-lasting activity that reduces kennel stress and promotes relaxation.

One great example is Filbert, a sweet and high-energy dog who struggled with anxiety in the shelter environment. The KONG toys became part of his routine and helped him settle more easily in his kennel. They provided a positive outlet for his energy and gave him something familiar and comforting while he waited for his forever family. He has since been adopted and is thriving in his new home!
