How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The grant funds helped tremendously by letting Creatures By Theresa reduce adoption fees to help find these homeless animals wonderful new homes. Grant funding helped by reducing the adoption fees of many guinea pigs in our care. CBT will also use the funds to reduce the fees of the rabbits and other homeless pets in our care. Our adoption fees are not incredibly high, but the grant funds helped us continue to operate as we adopted the pets at a reduced fee.

Adopting out rescue animals is sometimes very hard, and sometimes it is because everyone is infatuated with baby animals. The fact of the matter is that they do grow up and that is when a lot of them are surrendered.

Our biggest and most exciting adoption was Roy (first photo). He came in at around 6 months of age from a hoarding situation; he had an eye injury and was skinny. After he got healthy, Roy was neutered. He was sweet and had a big personality, and loved playing outside.

Adopting him was going to be hard due to his coloring: Roy was an albino, white with pink eyes, and on top of that he was a large breed of rabbit and he had a permanent scar on his injured eye.

Two and a half years later, Roy was adopted through this grant program, with a reduced fee, to a wonderful home where he would have a bunny friend.
