Victoria County Animal Shelter, Inc.: Purina Canada Happy Paws & Hearts Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We had 11 new intakes in one week, then another 25 more the following month, including 23 kittens, and we were expecting to be overwhelmed with the costs associated with all of these needs. Thanks to the Purina Canada Happy Paws & Hearts Operation Grant, we did not have to worry about all of the extra fundraisers required to cover the expenses of so many new intakes at the same time. We were also able to purchase food and supplies for all of the pets in our care. We are incredibly grateful for the support, which has helped us to continue making a positive impact in the community.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Grant funds helped sweet kitties like Payge (first photo), an unspayed female who was found as a stray. Payge was recently posted on Petfinder: Meet Payge here.

We also used the funds to help a mom, Violet, and her four young babies: Lupin, Fern, Lotus, and Clover (second photo). Violet and her babies will be looking for their furever homes in August 2025. Violet is a very loving and patient mom and the babies are extremely playful. Keep an eye out for this sweet family on Petfinder!

The grant also helped our “rock star” kitties. Jovi (third photo) has been adopted right away. Motley and Tyler (fourth and fifth photos) are still waiting for their furever homes, but with their gorgeous looks and sweet personalities, we are sure they will also be adopted soon.
