Skye survived her emergency medical condition to which we applied the grant funds, which was her prolapse and emergency cesarean section. Unfortunately, she got distemper a few weeks later.
She had been vaccinated as soon as possible after she came into our rescue, but the vet suspected she likely caught distemper at the emergency vet at the time of her surgery and her immune system was weak. By the time she was vaccinated by us, it was too late, as the disease was already in her body and taking over.
She succumbed to distemper approximately four weeks after her emergency-vet visit.
Our hearts are broken, as she had survived what many thought she wouldn’t — a massive prolapse, uterine rupture, hemorrhage, and emergency cesarean surgery — but lost her battle to distemper. We wish our update was a more pleasant one, but we did not anticipate this. We are thankful for your foundation and for your support.
