Friends of Rescue Animals: Emergency Medical Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
While FRAS never hesitates to provide necessary medical care for animals in need, unexpected emergency expenses can strain our resources. The Petfinder Foundation’s Emergency Medical Grant helped cover Eclipse’s medical costs after the fact, ensuring we could continue saying “yes” to other animals who need urgent care. Support like this allows us to provide lifesaving treatment while keeping our focus on rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption.
Thanks to the generosity of the Petfinder Foundation, Eclipse’s story had the happy ending he deserved -- and so will many more animals in need.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Eclipse, a stunning black cat, was found wandering the streets of Garland, Texas, on an usually cold and snowy morning. He had a severely swollen and bulging eye, but despite his painful condition, he remained a sweet, affectionate boy who deserved a second chance.
Thanks to the incredible team at The Vet House, Eclipse underwent enucleation surgery to remove the damaged eye, relieving him of any further pain. The cause of the swelling was unknown, but the veterinarian suspected trauma and noted that the tissue in the back of his eye had started to deteriorate.
Eclipse made a full recovery in a loving foster home and was soon ready for adoption. His story reached an adopter through Petfinder and it was love at first sight (second photo). Just five days after he was made available, Eclipse found his forever home.
