Paws4ever: REDI Implementation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Unfortunately, our main dog trainer left Paws4ever soon after we received this grant funding, so we have not been able to hold another "Ask A Trainer" event since we received our grant funding. However, we just hired a new dog trainer who will be able to teach these free public classes, so we're excited to continue to offer this opportunity to keep pets and their people together through 2024 and hopefully beyond.

Grant funds assisted Paws4ever in continuing to offer free dog training to community members who adopted from us in the fall and winter of 2023; four community members and their pets have taken advantage of this training so far.

Grant funds also allowed us to cover the booth fees to attend three diverse community events. We used additional grant funding to translate our programmatic brochures and adoption documentation into Spanish and to print copies of these documents.

How many pets did this grant help?

200

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Selina (now named Ember) was adopted in late October as a puppy during one of our adoption specials.

Her new mom had never had a dog before and we wanted to set her up for success, so she took advantage of our free training for new adopters. She enrolled Ember in our puppy group class, which helped to better socialize her and provide her with a solid foundation for basic manners.

Ember’s mom also asked if we could work with her on potty training, so we provided her an additional free private lesson thanks to the Petfinder Foundation’s grant funding.

Ember and her mom are doing great and we’re thrilled to have ensured a great start to pet ownership for Ember’s mom thanks to the Petfinder Foundation!
