Warren County Animal Ark: Dog Field Trip/Short-Term Fostering Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant was a major help with adding to our Doggie Day Out inventory and also allowing us to continue our existing program longer. We were also able to prepare all-new Doggie Day Out bags, which included to-go treats and two brand new toys.

I'm hoping this grant will help 10-15 dogs this calendar year.

Warren County is a small, rural county and has a very low participation rate. However, we have had countless inquiries and interest in our shelter animals and also the Doggie Day Out program since receiving this grant.

Just in December, two of our dogs (Olaf, first photo, and Rumor, second photo) were adopted due to being advertised for the Doggie Day Out program, which is an improvement for our shelter. We also have had three dogs adopted who were available to participate in the program.

Due to the holidays, none of our dogs got the opportunity to have a day out, but they have had many visit from the public. Our new volunteers all plan to start in January. Our shelter couldn’t be happier with the increase in participation thanks to this grant!
