Brother Wolf Animal Recue: Play Pet Beds Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Brother Wolf Animal Rescue has been a brick-and-mortar shelter facility since 2008. Recently, Hurricane Helene devastated our buildings and all of the resources within them. In the aftermath, we were forced to rapidly transition into a fully foster-based rescue organization.

With the help of this grant, we were able to resume operations and properly equip foster homes with essential supplies to care for the animals of Brother Wolf. The pet beds provided through this grant were a particularly meaningful addition, bringing warmth, comfort, and a sense of stability to animals entering unfamiliar homes. Even prior to the storm, pet beds were among the most frequently requested items from our foster families, and after losing everything, we had none to give. This support helped us meet an urgent need and ensured our foster pets could rest safely and comfortably during a time of major transition.

The grant also positioned us to better prepare for growth. As we implemented new foster recruitment strategies in 2025, the donated supplies helped us welcome and equip a wave of new foster families joining our network.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

One of the animals helped by this grant was Perry, a young and resilient dog who was scheduled for imminent euthanasia when we first heard his story. When we first saw his photo, he was severely emaciated — just 28 lbs. and barely hanging on. We were able to take him into our care at the last minute, saving his life.

Perry’s foster home was outfitted with one of the pet beds provided by this grant, and that bed has traveled with him to each and every foster home as he’s moved through our care. It has become a constant source of comfort and familiarity for him during a time of great transition. Now weighing a healthy 40 lbs., Perry is thriving — gaining strength, confidence, and joy. While he hasn’t yet found his forever home, he’s safe, loved, and surrounded by the warmth and stability that this grant helped make possible.
