Independent Animal Rescue: Emergency Medical Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We applied for this grant to support the medical care and recovery of Kashka, a sweet, 1-year-old dog in our foster program who needed surgery to correct her severe hip dysplasia.

Thanks to this grant, IAR was able to provide Kashka with the care she needed while maintaining the financial flexibility to respond to other emergency medical cases throughout the year. The Petfinder Foundation's investment helped offset a significant, unplanned veterinary expense that would otherwise have been absorbed entirely within our operating budget, allowing us to cover the costs of this specialized orthopedic surgery without compromising our ability to respond to additional urgent cases.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

In March, Kashka had a femoral head ostectomy to treat the severe hip dysplasia that had been impairing her mobility and quality of life.

We are so pleased to report that Kashka’s surgery and recovery was hugely successful and she’s completely regained the ability to walk, run, play, and enjoy life pain-free. We’re even happier to share that she has officially been adopted by the family who fostered her through her recovery!
