Red Barn Rescue: Dog Enrichment Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
This grant helped make the play yard a safer area for both the dogs and the volunteers. We don't have to worry about the dogs running into the fence and breaking it anymore now that we have a much sturdier fence panel. The double door has helped us with bringing dogs in and out of the play yard. Since we have installed the double door, we haven't had any dogs escape. This also makes it much less stressful for the new volunteers because they don't have to worry about dogs getting loose coming in or out of the play yard. It has become much safer for us to put dogs together in the play yard. Being able to take multiple dogs in or out at the same time has become much easier now that we can put one in the entrance while the other is in the play area.

We recently had a dog named Petey get adopted from us. He had unfortunately been adopted and returned to us before, so this time we wanted to make sure that the home he went to would be a perfect fit.
A couple that had adopted a dog named Beth from us a year earlier was looking for another dog to keep her company. Before Petey was adopted, we were able to use the play yard to make sure he and Beth were compatible to live together. After using the play yard, we determined that they were getting along together, so we trusted them to adopt him and be his forever home.
