Dreams Come True Rescue: Emergency Medical Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant was used towards the over $3,000 cost of our warrior Piglet's entropion surgery. Piglet is a neglected pup who found with entropion. With this surgery, he has the chance for adoption. The first photo shows Piglet the day he was found, and the second shows him after he had been with us for just over a month. His hair has grown back some and the ulcers on his eyes have been treated; however, without the surgery we were afraid he would again have ulcers, which would cause further damage and possibly render him unadoptable.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Meet the one and only Piglet! When I first saw his original photo, I knew I had to save him. Piglet was found as a stray in Texas and put on a 72-hour medical hold, which we can only assume meant a horrible ending after the 72 hours ended, as these shelters are bursting beyond capacity.

Dreams Do Come True Rescue stepped up with the help of donations, our Texas partners, and some wonderful fosters, and Piglet was deemed healthy enough to travel to us in New Hampshire.

Piglet still had a journey ahead of him. He needed entropion surgery to correct his eyes. Without this surgery, the original ulcers he had on his eyes would cause further damage. He flourished as a goofy, happy dog here, and we were committed to helping him find his happily ever after.

Piglet made an amazing recovery from his surgery (third photo) and is now in the process of meeting his forever family. He can now see everything without pain and is catching up on everything he missed earlier in his short life. He is such a bouncy, happy boy! Thank you for the assistance, Petfinder Foundation!
