Jezzie's Place Rescue: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We requested this grant to use for one free dog adoption, specifically to cover the adoption fee for our rescue dog Molly. Molly was an owner-surrender whom we took in on April 12, 2025. Because she needs to be the only pet in the home and we're requiring a fenced-in yard and an experienced owner, it's proving harder to find potential adopters for her. We'd like to reduce what barriers we can for her adoption. A reduced or covered adoption fee would help lift one barrier.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Molly was an owner-surrender from Connecticut. Her owners adore her but, despite a lot of training and effort, she wasn’t getting along with the older dog in her home. Molly has some BIG feelings about other dogs, and has a high prey drive, so she needs to be the only pet in the home. She’s working on her reactivity on walks and in the car (crating in the car would be best). We’ll continue her muzzle-training while she’s here.

Molly is very friendly with people, including strangers and the vet, tolerant of handling, isn’t destructive, is crate trained, and is 100% potty trained!

Molly’s looking for an experienced adopter (not a first-time dog owner) who can continue working on her dog reactivity, and provide a stable routine for her. She thrives with routine. Her ideal home would be in a quieter area with not many dogs being walked by the home.

Unfortunately, she is still in our care with little adoption interest. We continue to advertise on our shelter site that her adoption fee is sponsored. At the end of the bio we state, “Thanks to the Petfinder Foundation’s Kia Pet Adoption Grant, Molly’s adoption fee is now fully sponsored!” And we have also announced it on our socials.

You can meet Molly here.
