How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Thanks to KONG’s generous donation, shelter pets at Nevada Humane Society received critical daily enrichment that directly supported their emotional wellbeing. The KONG toys are durable and provide hours of entertainment and stress relief for our shelter animals, especially for heavy chewers! The included pictures show Nevada Humane Society dogs enjoying a filled KONG Classic toy, as well as a picture of Remington (see Remington’s story below!).

Remington was a dog who arrived at our shelter with extremely high fear, anxiety, and stress (FAS), and his anxiety caused him to deteriorate quickly in the shelter environment.

Through targeted behavior modification and enrichment, our team discovered that KONG toys were especially effective for Remington. With consistent access to the KONGs provided through this grant, Remington was able to engage in daily enrichment that significantly reduced his FAS, supported positive behavior change, and improved his overall quality of life.

We are happy to report that Remington is now happy, healthy, and thriving in a loving home.
