Working Dogs For Vets: Dog Field Trip/Short-Term Fostering Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
This grant provided essential supplies — including "Adopt Me" vests, secure harnesses, seatbelt tethers, and portable hydration tools — that allowed our adoptable dogs to safely leave the kennel environment for community outings. These field trips are vital for socialization, reducing kennel stress, and building the real-world skills necessary for our dogs to transition successfully into forever homes.

Rocket is a standout success of this program. Thanks to the support from the Petfinder Foundation, Rocket was able to take a socialization field trip to Tractor Supply in Lawrenceburg, TN. While there, he wore his new red “Adopt Me” vest, which increased his visibility and allowed him to practice calm behavior in a high-distraction environment.
These outings have directly improved his confidence and helped him present his best self to potential adopters.
Rocket is currently still waiting for his forever home and is refining his skills as a highly trained companion.
