How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant allowed us to promote our senior dogs by giving potential adopters or fosters the assurance that the financial burden of their ongoing medications would be covered by WARF through the Petfinder Foundation senior pet grant. Many people are reluctant to take on a potentially expensive senior pet without this reassurance.

We were able to place Amos, a super-senior, into a foster/fospice situation with one of our wonderful volunteers because we were able to commit to paying for his ongoing medications (thyroid supplement, pain meds, and a behavior medication), which would have otherwise precluded this family from being able to care for Amos.

Because of the Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant, Amos will live out his life with people who love him, and with two other senior dogs for company, rather than alone in a shelter — or worse. We are also able to promote several other seniors (Mercury and Zion) in our care with the assurance that their medications will be covered because of this grant.
