Henderson Animal Care and Control: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant helped 21 dogs and 17 cats find forever homes! The grant ran from Nov. 7-10, 2025. It also helped spread the awareness that there was an animal shelter in the City of Henderson, as the event gave us media coverage too (a bonus of the grant).

How many pets did this grant help?

38 dogs and cats

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Nala is a 10-year-old poodle mix who was left abandoned at the front of the animal shelter.

The little 11-lb. senior was frightened and neglected. Our shelter staff started to make her feel better and loved right away. Nala was given a groom and dental cleaning by our wonderful medical team.

Unfortunately, Nala came down with kennel cough shortly after she got to the shelter. She needed to be hand-fed while she recovered because she was so sad and not feeling well.

The Kia Pet adoption grant was quickly approaching, and a nice senior couple came into the shelter looking for a senior dog to join their family. Our kennel staff recognized what a great match Nala would be for the couple. Time was spent advising them of Nala’s sad start at the shelter but that she had lots of love to give.

It was a great match! And thanks to Kia Pet Adoption Grant, on Nov. 8, 2025, they were able to adopt Nala at no cost and spend the money on lavishing Nala with love and gifts.
