Ladybird Animal Santuary: Purina Canada Happy Paws & Hearts Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Ladybird rescued two senior golden retrievers after they were found running through the streets of Hamilton, ON. These girls were suffering from long-term neglect and many serious and chronic health issues as well, as it was determined that they had likely been used as breeding dogs. The toll on their bodies was devastating. The Purina Canada Happy Paws & Hearts Operation Grant enabled us to pay the exorbitant vet costs to give them the care they needed. This included spay surgeries, medications, and vaccinations.

Bunny and Brie are sweet and loving dogs who have an unbreakable bond. After a lifetime of breeding and neglect, these poor dogs were left to fend for themselves in their golden years. Ladybird provided a safe home for these girls and gave them all the love and care they needed to get them back to a place of safety, peace, and good health.

The Purina Canada Happy Paws & Hearts Operation Grant allowed us to offer them the medical treatment they so desperately needed.

Bunny and Brie have been adopted by their foster home and we’re so happy that they will remain together without being uprooted to a new and unfamiliar place.
