Humane Society of Harrison County: Emergency Medical Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We are a small shelter in a rural area of West Virginia. Many pets we receive have not had previous vet care, and if they have, it was usually sparse. That means that when the animals are in our care, we need to provide more than just vaccines and spay/neuter. Thanks to grants like this, we can provide that care.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

This grant went towards Miss Winifred for some much-needed medical care. She had sets of mammary tumors on both sides (one side has had the tumors removed and just needs to heal before other side is done). She also needed to be spayed and to have a dental, both of which have been done.

With this grant, we were able to provide the care she needed.

Sometimes seniors stay in shelters far longer than we wish for. But Winifred is now in a loving home and we just know she is being spoiled like the princess she is and should be. Happy tails, Winifred!
