Team Cat Rescue, Inc.: Purina Canada Happy Paws & Hearts Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This generous grant helped us with our urgent medical cases. We are contacted regularly and often by both shelters and clinics to help cats that are suffering medically and are slated for euthanasia. Because of grants like these, we can save these sweet souls and provide them with a life of health, happiness, and safety.

How many pets did this grant help?

Three

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

There are two cases where this grant was applied:

Zephyr (first photo): A clinic contacted us to help this cat, who had been brought in for euthanasia due to a dislocated hip. The owners could not afford treatment and were insisting on euthanasia. Thanks to this grant, we were able to get a consultation and surgery from an orthopedic surgeon quickly. This cat is currently recovering for the next four to six weeks and then will be available for adoption. Surgery cost $2,800.

Simba (second photo) and Mickey (third photo): We renamed them Buttermilk and Shortcake. They came to us with an unusual skin disease. Pictures will explain it better but it required diagnostics, regular medications, special food, and months of treatment. These cats were suffering until we were able to get a specialist to diagnose them thanks to this grant. These cats are in recovery as they are not ready for adoption. Treatment as of June 30, 2025, is at $3,667 and climbing.
