One of the pups this grant helped is Pike — a floppy, soaking-wet cartoon of a dog with “hillbilly energy” and a heart 10 times too big for his body.
Thanks to the enrichment toys provided through this grant, Pike and his littermates have a safe and structured way to burn off energy (instead of, say, drinking from the baby pool and chewing the hose). The toys have helped him stay mentally engaged, practice crate skills, and build confidence — all of which makes a big difference in preparing him for adoption.
Pike is still looking for his forever home, but in the meantime, he’s thriving in foster care with plenty of playtime, enrichment, and support.
