Alliston & District Humane Society: Other Animals Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The money from this grant was used to help fund the veterinary care of our rabbits. Thirteen white rabbits were abandoned together in a roadside ditch late last fall. They were easy targets for predators and vehicles. The majority of them were only five weeks old.
Somehow, they survived and were brought to ADHS by a gentleman who stopped and gathered them up. They were ragged-looking and stained by both urine and dirt and required flea/mite treatment plus two rounds of antibiotics for intestinal parasites.
The Petfinder Foundation grant paid for the neuter and vaccination of seven members of this group, which we nicknamed the Baker's Dozen.

Pretzel (first and second photos) was one of 13 rabbits (third photo) who were abandoned this past fall in a ditch in the countryside. He became a social-media favorite when he was photographed in a relaxed state during his vaccination against the deadly rabbit hemorrhagic disease.
Pretzel is a Florida White rabbit and is a calm and gentle bunny, but sadly he will spend much longer waiting for a home than others due to his red eyes. His eyes are jewel-like and appear more lavender, with a pink pupil.
