Brightside Animal Center: Cat Enrichment Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

With the funding from the Cat Enrichment Grant, we were able to order four new window beds, two new cat-grass grow stations, 10 cat condos, and four bottles of feline calming spray. These items have allowed us to make sure our cats are comfortable and happy during their time in our program.

We've seen an increase in the number of cats entering our shelter, and making sure they have the supplies that they need to feel safe and calm is critical to their success in finding adopters. In 2025 we estimate we will have 700 cats come through our program who will be able to use these items and we're excited to make sure we maintain a high quality of care for each of the cats who comes into BrightSide!

How many pets did this grant help?

700

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Coco (first photo) came to BrightSide as an owner-surrender in January 2025.

When she first arrived, she was scared and standoffish with volunteers and adopters. She kept to herself and we had a difficult time getting her to come out of her shell and show her personality.

Since receiving the Cat Enrichment Grant through the Petfinder Foundation, we were able to give Coco a new bed (that she absolutely loves), a cat condo, and calming spray. She loves her new window bed and spends most of her day there watching staff, volunteers, and other people in the shelter.

This has helped her gain confidence and feel safer in her environment. She’s become more social and has had more meet-and-greets with potential adopters since receiving these items. She hasn’t found her perfect adoptive home quite yet, but we know she’ll find her perfect adopter soon!

Meet Coco here.
