Dolly & Friends Small Animal Sanctuary, Inc.: Other Animals Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We needed the support from the Petfinder Foundation to allow us to pay for Maggie's expensive medications and vet visits. Thank you for sponsoring her vet visits, supplies, medications, supplements, and vitamins that helped this sweet girl feel and look so much better!

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Our stray pickup, Maggie, was found outside in the freezing cold with nothing to protect her from the wind. A local pet store saw her and called us to assist.

We originally thought that Maggie was pregnant due to the swelling and bloating in her belly. We took her to the vet to find out that she had GI issues causing her to not form solid stools.

After we took Maggie to the vet, it took about three weeks of monitoring to make sure she was doing better. We were given a regimen of medications and within those three weeks, she was back to her old wonderful self!

Just three days after we posted her on Petfinder, she was adopted into a wonderful new home where she is going to be extremely happy for the rest of her life! The adopter mentioned Petfinder as the referring agency, and we are so grateful to the Petfinder Foundation for providing support for the smaller rescues supporting small animals. There aren’t many grants specific to other animals (animals other than dogs and cats), so we are honored to receive this support for the second year in a row.
