In March 2025, we were asked to help with a large colony in Benton, PA, which is in rural North Central Pennsylvania. There were over 40 cats and kittens living on the property and, though the homeowner was doing their best to care for them, they were in poor health from overcrowding, over-breeding, and poor nutrition.
Working with the homeowner over a span of eight weeks, we trapped every cat on the property and either returned them once sterilized or worked to find the friendliest of the colony adoptive homes.
Sienna is one of the cats who proved highly social and we placed her in foster with the goal of getting her adopted. Unfortunately, she struggled with illness the first three months she was with us (first photo) and had to be evaluated and treated by our vets multiple times.
In July, she had a growth appear suddenly in her right ear that needed immediate removal and biopsy. Thankfully, Sienna was awarded a grant through the Petfinder Foundation and it helped to offset the cost of surgery and biopsy. Sienna has finally overcome her health issues and is officially cleared for adoption (photos 2-4)!
