Stray Cat Blues, Inc.: No Fee/Low Fee All Love Adoption Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
Through this $3,000 award, Stray Cat Blues, Inc. (SCB), was able to meaningfully reduce barriers to adoption and create life-changing opportunities for cats in our care. With grant support, SCB launched two targeted reduced-fee adoption promotions at our Petsmart Adoption Centers: “BOGO 50%,” which encouraged adopters to open their homes to pairs of cats, and “Seniors for Seniors,” which offered a 50% reduced adoption fee for adults aged 65+ adopting cats aged 10 and older. These initiatives were designed not only to increase adoption numbers, but to thoughtfully match cats with homes where they would thrive.
The results were powerful. A total of 45 cats found their forever homes through this project, including 33 kittens, five adolescents, two adults, and, most notably, five senior cats, who often face the greatest challenges in finding adopters. Each adoption represents an individual life changed, from cats who no longer have to wait, to families who now experience the joy of companionship.
Beyond these placements, the impact of the grant extended even further. Every adoption created space within our foster network, allowing us to take in additional cats in need. In this way, the grant did not just support 45 adoptions, it also helped create a continuous cycle of rescue, care, and second chances. This funding made it possible to reach adopters who may not have otherwise been able to take that step, turning intention into action and ensuring that more cats, especially those most vulnerable, could find the loving homes they deserve.

Meet Olivia (photos 1 and 2) and Opey (photo 3): bonded sisters, best friends, and inseparable companions whose journey to a forever home took more than three years.
Rescued on March 7, 2023, these incredibly sweet but shy cats spent over 1,000 days in foster care, quietly waiting for a family willing to see past their initial timidity and give them a chance. Finding homes for shy adult cats is challenging; finding the right home for a shy bonded pair can be even harder. Thanks to this grant, that changed.
Through the promotion that allowed for reduced adoption fees, Olivia and Opey finally found their perfect match and were adopted together on March 15, 2026. This support made all the difference, removing a barrier for adopters and giving these deserving cats the opportunity to begin the next chapter of their lives together!
Now, instead of waiting, Olivia and Opey are settling into the safety and comfort of a loving home. And just as importantly, their adoption has opened space in their foster home for two more cats in need, creating a ripple effect of lifesaving impact.
This is what your support makes possible: not just adoptions, but second chances for the cats who wait the longest and need us the most.
