Stitch came into our care at the beginning of the January deep freeze — just in time, too. She was only 4.5 weeks old and came in with her littermate, Lilo (first photo). Unfortunately the two of them were the only survivors from a litter of four; the other two lost their battle with the cold temperatures.

While in her foster home, Stitch got too close to one of the resident dogs when he had some tasty treat and he overcorrected, causing a wound to Stitch’s little lower eyelid (second photo). She was seen by the vet, treated with antibiotics and then, when the swelling had gone down, it was determined that she need a surgery to close the wound.

She came through like the champion she is and she did not stop trying to convince the resident dog that they should be the best of friends.

Stitch is a fun-loving and joyful girl who loves to learn, sass at the animals on TV, and spend time with her best people. Stitch was in foster for 13 weeks and received all three DAPP vaccines as well as her rabies vaccine. She was also able to have a consistent diet of one food brand thanks to this grant.

On April 13, Stitch was adopted to a fantastic home where she will work with her new guardians in dog sports, something that will bring joy to her and her family. Her sister, Lilo, is still in foster care and waiting for her forever home. You can meet Lilo here.
