How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant had a tremendous impact on Working Dogs For Vets and the adoptable dogs under our care. With the funds awarded, we were able to introduce essential enrichment items and equipment such as balls, squeaky toys, tug-and-fetch toys, agility equipment, modular play structures, nose-work games, dig blankets, and beds. These additions transformed our training facility into a dynamic and engaging environment addressing the physical, mental, and emotional needs of our dogs.

The interactive toys helped reduce anxiety and encouraged natural behaviors, while the agility and modular play structures improved the dogs' coordination, confidence, and physical health. Sensory items like dig blankets and nose-work games provided valuable mental stimulation, sharpening their focus and scent-detection skills. The cozy beds ensured that, after a day of active enrichment, our dogs could rest comfortably.

This enriched environment has not only enhanced the quality of life for our service dogs-in-training but has also better prepared them for their future roles as companions and helpers to veterans. These improvements directly support our mission of ensuring that the dogs are happy, well-adjusted, and ready to make a positive difference in the lives of their adopters.
